 Join us for a relaxed and informative journey into the fascinating world of one of Britain’s best-loved traditional herbs.

Growing within the historic grounds of Llanyrafon Manor Farm, mullein has been valued for centuries by herbalists, gardeners and country folk alike.

During this hands-on workshop, you’ll discover its history, folklore and traditional uses while learning how to harvest this remarkable plant responsibly. Together we’ll explore the gardens, identify healthy mullein plants, discuss sustainable harvesting techniques and gather a small amount of flowers to use during the workshop. Back indoors, you’ll make your own traditional mullein herbal infusion sachets to take home to take home and prepare your small bundle of mullein flowers for drying, along with recipe cards and guidance for their traditional uses.

Along the way we’ll also explore the folklore surrounding this striking plant, known through history as Hag’s Taper, Torch Plant and Aaron’s Rod, and discover how people once used its tall flower stalks as ceremonial and practical torches.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as anyone with an interest in herbs, traditional skills, nature, history and wellbeing.

Make your own traditional mullein herbal infusion sachets to take home. Harvest fresh mullein flowers from the gardens to dry at home.
